Changing the Oil on a Honda Shadow Spirit
You know the drill. Every few thousand miles its time to perform this simple maintenance procedure. Oil is more than lubricant, it also regulates temperature and maintains performance. your Honda will decrease in value if not properly kept up.

* 17 mm Socket wrench
* Sealing washer(Honda part #94109-14000)
* Oil filter(Honda part #15410-MFJ-D01)
* 3 quarts of 10W40 API-SF motor oil
1 While the engine is still warm, park the motorcycle and steady it on its stand.
2 Discharge the oil by unplugging the cap under the the motor on left-hand side. Wipe the dipstick clean when you have the chance.
3 Using the 17mm socket wrench, undo the drain plug. Make sure the oil pan is beneath before it draining if you don’t want a mess on your hands.
4 Remove the washer of the threads and clean it with a towel. Replace with a new washer (Honda part #94109-14000). Use the 17mm socket wrench to reseal the plug. Tighten to twenty-two pounds.
5 Remove the oil filter on the lower left hand side. Throw away the filter and any drained oil at a reclamation facility. (These can be found with a Google search and are usually close by)
6 Use the 10W40 to coat the Filters threads. Screw on the oil filter cap on by hand.
7 Well done. Now fill her up with 3 quarts of oil employing a funnel introduced to the filter. Use a towel to wipe clean any excess oil before screwing the oil filler cap back on.
