Changing An Oil Filter on 2007 KIA Sedona
In order to make the 2007 KIA Sedona more eco-friendly, use is made of a canister system in the oil filter instead of outer metal shell. It is a new filter that looks more like the old oil filter systems used way back in the 40s and 50s. If you would like to change the oil filter, the following steps will help you out.
- Let the drain plug come loose after positioning the drain pan below the oil pan. Before you do this, ensure that the engine is fairly cool, as things are quite tight here.
- Open the car’s hood and take off the plastic engine cover, which is held in place by four bolts of metal. Place the removed cover to the side of your car carefully.
- Find the position of the oil filter, which is located off the engine’s right center towards the back. Loosen the cap using a filter wrench in order to open the canister.
- You should be able to view the oil filter cartridge. Use a rag to remove the old oil filter so that you can catch any drips.
- Put the new cartridge in place and replace the cap.
- Replace the drain plug and tighten it.
- Remove the oil drain pan. Do not throw away the used oil but recycle it where you bought the new oil to help protect the environment.
- Put in the new oil at the fill portal on the engine’s top front. Clean any oil that spills in the process to avoid any risk of fire.
- Put back the plastic cover.
- Tighten the bolts that hold it in place.
- Check the oil level to ensure that you have put the required amount of oil.
